how do u do... -2 1/3 on the graphign coculator.. even wit the space it thinks its.. -21/3... i tried.. -2+1/3 but i dont think its right.... i alsos tried -(2+1/3) is that the right way?

never mind,i found the way to do it. the way it got 2 1/3 was, 8÷-3. so i just used -8/3 on the coculator in sted...

Yeah, one of the things with the graphing calculator is that it doesn't take mixed numbers and only takes improper fractions instead.

Good job! As I've said, the sooner you get used to working with improper fractions, the better. You could have used -2.33, but technically, -8/3 is more accurate. AND, you were correct with your creative solution, Ross, -(2+1/3)*x does work, and (-2-1/3)*x works, too. Thanks, I didn't know that!

Students answering their own questions. I feel so un-needed :(

Ah, the woes of a teacher. Much like the feeling of a supreme being who creates a world and then is rejected by his people, to be forgotten.

do u have to use slope intercept form to plot a line? can i just use the cover up method if its x+y=5 instead of converting it ot y=x+5. would i get the same answer?

Daniel said...

Yes, the cover up method works great.

Also, y+x=5 ' ≠ ' y = x + 5, you forgot that it is y = -x + 5.
But, YES!yeah you would get the same answer.

Ross I didn't understand your question, so standard works great for hand but doesn't work for the graphing calculator nor do improper fractions. For other information I think it has stuff in the help section for graphit.
