In summary:

USE SUBSTITIUTION when:
- the equations are in "y=" form
- it's easy to solve for "x=" or "y="

USE ELIMINATION:
- for everything else
- (convert to STANDARD Form first!)

before you can subtract you need to multiply. For example, you could have multiplied the top equation by 5 and the bottom equation by 2. This would set your y variables to the same coefficient. NOW you can subtract. Remember, you have to multiply both sides of the equations.

You have to ELIMINATE one of the variables. If you don't, you're STUCCKK!!
